My new single Beshkan blends Indie Rock, Indie Pop, and Folk Rock into something deeply personal and spiritual. I wrote it as a tribute to my father and his favorite poet, Rumi, inspired by the Sufi belief that art can dissolve the ego and bring us closer to our truest self.
“You are the soul of the universe,
Your name is love.
I’m not this hair,
I’m not this skin,
I am the soul that lives within.”
The title Beshkan — meaning “break” — comes from the Persian phrase “Beshkan, beshkan ta ke khodra beshkani” (“break, break until you shatter yourself”). For me, it’s about surrender — about breaking open to find something infinite within.
My father used to quote Rumi constantly. He taught me that love, in its purest form, isn’t just an emotion — it’s a way of being. Beshkan is my way of honoring that lesson.
Listeners have described the song as “soul-nourishing” — a track that bridges cultures and genres while inviting quiet reflection. With its lo-fi textures, organic instrumentation, and tender vocals, it’s one of the most personal songs I’ve ever released.
Beshkan is out now on Spotify and all major streaming platforms.
