A love letter to who we’ve been and where we’re going

By Roxana
Sometimes, you have to drift to find your way home. Drifting Roots is my second EP – and in many ways, it feels like my first real one. Written across years, countries, and headspaces, these four songs are a snapshot of what’s shaped me so far: memory, identity, heartbreak, healing, and the quiet power of softness.
If you’re new here: hey, I’m Roxana. I make indie music that sounds like cozy heartbreak, dream-drenched reflection, or a slow walk through your own memories. I write, sing, and produce most of my songs from home, often with the help of kind friends and way too many cups of tea. Since starting to post music on TikTok, I’ve slowly built a sweet little community of Roxstars who remind me why I do this in the first place – and Drifting Roots was made with them in mind.
The songs
Alive Forever
This one’s for Tantantini – my childhood cat, and maybe also for anyone you’ve loved and lost. It’s a warm, gentle hug of a track, built around the idea that some souls don’t really leave – they just become part of who we are. I wanted this song to feel like light through a window.
Green Roses
Jealousy is messy – especially when you’re 17 and feeling everything for the first time. Green Roses is a time capsule from that age, written in the middle of a heartbreak I couldn’t yet understand. I brought it back to life years later with the help of Benjo. (who absolutely killed it), as a gift to my younger self.
Stars Don’t Fall
Inspired by the phrase “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” – but make it cosmic. This song is about identity, family, and softness. It’s slow, dreamy, and meant for dancing with someone you love (or miss). If you’ve ever felt far away from home – or from yourself – I hope this one reminds you you’re still connected.
It’s You
A simple love song. No frills, no irony. Just the wide-eyed belief that the right person exists, and maybe they’re already here. I wrote this one at 17, and it still makes me smile every time I hear it.
The artwork was created by the incredible @red_astra_ink, whose hand-drawn style perfectly captured the organic, emotional nature of this project. In a world flooded with AI art and noise, this felt important. Real voices. Real hands. Real growth.
A little note on being indie
I’m doing this fully independent – no label, no manager, just me (and my cats). It’s not always easy, but it’s honest. And if these songs found their way to you, I’m so glad they did.
Drifting Roots is available on all platforms now. Stream it, share it, cry to it, dance to it, add it to your “staring at the ceiling” playlist. And if you’ve been here from the beginning, thank you. You’re part of this story.
With love,
Roxana
